A device package adds new phone models to Unified CM and updates the firmware and configuration files that activate features on your Cisco device. You may need to configure some settings or attributes for the new features, which may be disabled by default.
You can download device packages from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager software download page. Just click the Unified CM device package link and sign in with your Cisco credentials in a new browser window or tab.
To apply a device package, start with the publisher server and the TFTP server and then proceed to the rest of the Unified CM servers.
For Unified CM 11.5(1) or later, you don’t need to reboot the whole cluster when you apply a device package for new device support.
Just follow these steps in Unified CM after adding the device package:
• Restart the Cisco Tomcat service on all cluster nodes.
• Reboot the cluster if you are running 11.5(1)SU4 or lower, 12.0(1) or 12.0(1)SU1. Reboot the Unified CM service on the publisher node if you are running 11.5(1)SU5 or higher, or 12.0(1)SU2 or higher. You can skip this step if you are running the Cisco Call Manager service only on the subscriber nodes.
